However, when you are spending your hard earned cash on one of these expensive little gems – do you know what you are looking for?

Size Isn’t Everything!

Whilst it’s wonderful to have a large rock to show off – if you haven’t checked the quality of the diamond, you may end up very disappointed with a dull and lifeless looking stone on your finger.

To avoid this happening you should check your diamond for the 4 C’s
The 4 C’s stand for colour, clarity, cut, carat.
Colour

Diamonds can vary considerably in colour. Cheaper diamonds will have a deep yellow colour, where the more expensive diamonds will be colourless. Each diamond will be graded by colour – colourless (D) to darkest (Z). D-G grades are most desirable, H & I colours will also appear colourless to the naked eye – anything J grade above, will then start to have a “tinted” yellowish colour.
